Help for the Hurting

Welcome to our Website!

CTLC is an ecumenical organization of over 30 local churches working with the support of area business and social service groups to meet basic human needs on a temporary and/or emergency basis.  Our staff is composed entirely of volunteers who assist from 80 to 160 families per week.  These include street people, the elderly, the disabled, and those marginally employed or unemployed.

  • If you are a person needing assistance from CTLC, please go to our Services page for a description of the kinds of assistance we offer and our hours of operation.

  •  If you or your organization would like to volunteer to work during the week in assisting families and individuals who come in for help, please click on our Volunteers page.  There are several areas that you can volunteer to work in.

  • If you need someone to speak to your group or organization about CTLC, speakers are available.  Just call us during Donation Hours (see below) at 254-778-6885 and ask for the director, Cynthia Russell, or email us at ctlc@ctlcministries.org and we'll set something up.

  •  If you would like to make a donation of food, clothing and/or household items, please see the Donations page.  Financial donations are also needed to purchase many of the food and hygiene items given out – information on how to make such a donation can also be found on this page.

  •  At times CTLC runs short of certain items that we would normally try to have available to give to the families/individuals who need them.  You will find a list of those items on the Current Needs page.

Volunteer Focus

  • The Food for Families drive sponsored by KWTX (Channel 10) is November 21st at the Scott & White Hospital parking lot all day long (6 AM-8 PM).  Come volunteer to help with the food collection during part of that time or bring some non-perishable canned food to donate.

  • CTLC has a BIG need for food items to put in family bags for Thanksgiving.  Here's what we need:  stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, and canned sweet potatoes or yams.  Please drop these by CTLC during our open hours.  Praise God that we have received a special gift for the turkeys and hams that will be given out!

  • CTLC has a great need for blankets, boys clothes, sheets, towels, pots & pans, can openers, and diabetic snacks (&/or Glucerna)We also need more funds coming in since we are spending about two thousand dollars more each month than we are bringing in.

  • Backpack Buddies 2008 is going full steam ahead again this year in Temple and in Troy.  For information on how you can be a part of this outreach, click here.

  • We are asking the church members of our participating churches to donate food for the rest of the year to our food pantry.  Each church is assigned a specific type of food to be responsible for during the year.  Click here for more information.  We don’t want giant economy sizes because we are unable to re-package any foods.

  • We need LOTS of VOLUNTEERS on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

  • We have a great need for used pew Bibles, paperback or hard cover, if you are needing to find a new home for them.

  • Julie LeMay is teaching a beginning computer class for clients on Wednesdays 9:30-11 AM.
Call Julie at 254-598-4161 for more information.
Anyone may join at any time!

  • We have a great need for 3 able-bodied men to help load and unload and at least 1 man with a pick-up truck to pick up food from TLC and then help unload it at CTLC on Wednesday mornings at 8:00.  Anyone who volunteers should be able to lift heavy loads with no problem.

For directions on how to get to our location, click here.

THANK YOU!!

  • Thank you to Humble House for the young men who help move and load/unload groceries on Wednesday mornings.  We are SO grateful.
